plate privacy policy
Effective October 12, 2026. plate ("we") is a meal planning app made by Brain Nourishment LLC. This policy explains what plate collects, why, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. Questions: support@useplateapp.com.
What we collect
Your plan answers. Your country and ZIP or postcode, the store you shop at, household size, the days you cook, what you spend on dinners now and your weekly budget, diet, allergies, foods you dislike, goals, cooking time and appliances, and pantry items you mark as on hand. We use them to build your meal plans and shopping lists.
Your plans and activity in the app. The plans we make for you, meals you swap or mark cooked, shopping list check-offs, and thumbs up or down on recipes. We use them to show your week, plan around last week's leftovers, and plan better meals for you.
An account identifier. plate signs you in with an anonymous account, so you don't give us a name, email or password to use it. The account ID connects your plans and purchases.
Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google. We receive your subscription status from them through RevenueCat; we never see your payment details.
Feedback you send. If you use "send feedback", we receive your message, the kind of feedback, and the email address and screenshot if you choose to add them, with basic app details (version, device type) to help us fix problems.
Usage analytics. We record how the app is used (for example, which onboarding steps were completed and when a plan was made) with PostHog, linked to your anonymous account ID, to understand what works and fix what doesn't.
Advertising measurement. When you install plate from one of our ads, AppsFlyer helps us measure which ad led to the install and to later steps in the app (such as starting a trial or subscribing). For this it receives device and app information (device type, operating system, app version, IP address, install and event times) and your anonymous account ID. On iPhone it receives your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you choose "Allow" when plate asks to track you; otherwise measurement uses Apple's privacy-preserving attribution, which doesn't identify you. On Android it may receive your device's advertising ID unless you've turned it off. It never receives your answers, plans, diet or allergies.
Notifications. If you allow notifications, reminders (such as dinner reminders) are scheduled on your device. We don't send your notification settings anywhere.
Store lookups with Kroger
To find Kroger-family stores near you (Kroger, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Harris Teeter and others), plate sends the ZIP code you entered to Kroger's public store-locator API. When you pick one of these stores, plate asks Kroger's product API for that store's current prices so your plan can use them. Kroger receives only the ZIP code and the store; it doesn't receive your name, account ID, or any other information about you. Kroger's handling of this data is covered by Kroger's own privacy policy.
Consumer health data
Your diet and allergy answers (for example vegetarian, gluten-free or a peanut allergy) may count as consumer health data under laws such as Washington's My Health My Data Act. Here is how we handle them:
- What we collect: the diet and allergy options you choose in onboarding or in Preferences.
- How we use them: only to leave out recipes and ingredients that don't fit them when we plan your meals. We don't use them for anything else, including advertising or analytics.
- Sharing: we never sell them or share them with anyone. They're stored with your account on Supabase, which hosts our data on our behalf.
- Consent: we ask for your consent where you give them, on the allergy step of onboarding.
- Your choices: change or clear them any time in Preferences, delete them with your account in Settings, or email support@useplateapp.com to see or delete them or to withdraw your consent.
Who we share data with
We don't sell your personal information for money. To measure our advertising, we share the device and app information described under "Advertising measurement" with AppsFlyer, and AppsFlyer reports results to the ad networks we advertise with (such as Meta, TikTok and Google) so they can tell us which ads worked. Some state laws call this "sharing" or "targeted advertising"; see "Your choices" to opt out. We never share your answers, plans, diet or allergies for advertising. We use these service providers to run plate, and they process data only on our behalf:
- Supabase: hosts your account, answers, plans and feedback.
- RevenueCat: manages subscription status.
- Apple and Google: process purchases and deliver the app.
- PostHog: usage analytics.
- AppsFlyer: advertising measurement, as described above.
- Kroger: store and price lookups, as described above.
We may disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep your answers and plans while your account exists. You can delete your account in Settings; that deletes your answers, plans, recipe ratings, feedback and feedback screenshots from our servers. Usage analytics stay in PostHog, linked only to the anonymous account ID, for as long as our PostHog project keeps event data; ask us at support@useplateapp.com and we'll delete yours. Advertising measurement data is kept by AppsFlyer under its own policy and our settings with it. Purchase records are kept by Apple or Google under their policies.
Your choices
- Change your answers any time in Preferences.
- Turn notifications on or off in Settings.
- Delete your account and its data in Settings.
- Opt out of advertising measurement: on iPhone, choose "Ask App Not to Track" when plate asks, or turn tracking off any time in iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking; on Android, delete or reset your advertising ID in your device's settings. You can also email us to opt out.
- Contact us at support@useplateapp.com for a copy of your data or any other request. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have additional rights, such as access, correction and deletion; we honor them for everyone.
Children
plate isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
