plate terms of use
Effective October 12, 2026. These terms are an agreement between you and Brain Nourishment LLC ("we", "us") about your use of plate, a meal planning app. By using plate you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. Questions: support@useplateapp.com.
What plate does
plate plans dinners for your week around your answers (your store, household, budget, diet, allergies and tastes), and makes a shopping list with estimated prices. You can swap meals, mark them cooked, check off your list and change your answers at any time.
Prices are estimates
The prices in plate are estimates. Most are typical prices for the store you pick; for some stores they come from that store's own listings. Real prices vary by location, change often, and depend on sales, sizes and stock. Your total at the register may differ from the total in plate, and the savings plate shows are estimates based on what you told us you spend now. We don't sell groceries and aren't affiliated with any store; store names belong to their owners.
Food, allergies and health
plate is a planning tool, not medical or nutritional advice. You're responsible for checking every ingredient against your allergies and dietary needs, for reading product labels, and for safe food handling and cooking. Filters for diets and allergies reduce what plate suggests but can't guarantee a recipe or product is free of an allergen. Nutrition figures are estimates. If you have a medical condition or a serious allergy, follow the advice of your doctor or dietitian.
Your account
plate signs you in with an anonymous account on your device. Keep your device secure; anyone with it can use your account. You can delete your account and its data in Settings at any time. You must be at least 13 years old to use plate.
Subscriptions and free trials
plate needs a subscription. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) through your account with them, at the price and period shown in the app before you buy.
- Free trials. A free trial, when offered, turns into a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. plate shows the trial length, the price after it and the first charge date before you start. Each account can use an introductory offer once, as Apple and Google allow.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Cancelling. Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings (Settings in plate links to them). Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies; we can't issue them directly.
- Price changes and offers. We may change prices or offer different prices or discounts to different people (for example a one-time offer); any change to an existing subscription follows Apple's or Google's rules, which include notice before a price increase.
- Creator codes. Codes we give out may grant access for a limited time. They have no cash value and may be ended at any time.
Using plate fairly
Don't misuse plate: don't try to break or overload it, get around the subscription, scrape it, copy its recipes or content to resell, or use it to break the law. We may suspend or end access for anyone who does.
Our content and yours
The app, its recipes, photos, design and code belong to us or our licensors. Your subscription gives you a personal, non-transferable right to use plate for your own household. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve plate without owing you anything.
Other services
plate relies on services run by others, including Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Supabase, PostHog, AppsFlyer and Kroger's public store and product APIs. Their terms and policies apply to them, and we aren't responsible for their availability or accuracy. Our privacy policy explains what we share with them.
Changes and availability
We're always improving plate, so features, recipes and supported stores may change, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We may update these terms; we'll change the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use plate after a change means you accept it.
Disclaimers and limits
plate is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any amount above what you paid for plate in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you, and nothing here limits rights you have by law as a consumer.
Ending
You can stop using plate and delete your account at any time. We may end or suspend your access if you break these terms. Sections about prices, food and health, our content, disclaimers and limits continue after that.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, except where the law where you live says otherwise.
Apple
If you got plate from the App Store: these terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to support plate or handle claims about it; Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them; and you'll comply with any third-party terms (like your carrier's) when using plate.
